The first thing you notice when you walk into The Diamond is one of those long, narrow wooden tables that you slide the discs on.  Needs sawdust.  You know what I mean.  The second thing you notice is the lack of garish handles on the taps.  The Diamond instead sticks to the small black knobs favored by Belgian Brasseries.  Never fear, the choice is purely esthetic, not due to embarrassment over the content of the taps.  Raise your eyes to the blackboards behind the bar to check your selections.  One lists the stronger brews and the other is for the less skull-splitting variety.  A good mix of microbrews and foreign beers, they are basically all can’t-misses.  While sipping your Hitachino at the half-moon bar is pleasure, the back deck is the place to be.  There you can grab a seat at one of a handful of picnic benches or gamble the next tray of Resissdorf on winning a game of ring toss.  There is a fresh look and feel to The Diamond that sets it apart from even the Williamsburg scene.  This one is a can’t miss.
