A blackboard Gaffel waiter and a plastic banner seemingly left over from a 1980s homecoming parade are the only indications of Cobble Hill’s premier post-apocalyptic beer garden.  But don’t let the harsh exterior fool you – the inside is just as ugly.  A handful of weatherworn picnic benches make up the seating in the enclosed garden.  Strings of colored Christmas bulbs top the tall wooden fence that prevents the patrons from seeing out and the shopper from seeing in.  At this point you’re either turned off or intrigued.  If the latter, you won’t be disappointed.  Excellent micro and foreign taps are juxtaposed with white trash cans and bottles.  The grill cooks up standard fare, with the entertainment provided by you and the people you bring.  In short, it makes the end of the civilized world look not so bad. Do note that it is only open in good weather.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Smallish outdoor beer garden with picnic bench seating.  No inside area (except a toilet in a bomb shelter and is only open during nice weather.

Experience will remind you of a backyard barbeque with good beer on tap.  I love it.

FOOD/SPIRITS

Basic bar food cooked on an outdoor grill.  No drinks except beer.
